Light love
Now these are cool.
I was at a glass factory in Murano near Venice a few weeks ago and I understand that these wouldn't be hard to make. All I need is a kiln, a lower heat kiln, a glass workshop and that is about it. Oh, and the skills of an electrician. Not much to ask.

Look what I found at Wheel&Barrow
I bought both these bowls for presents for family at Christmas. Turns out I couldn't give them away. The first bowl has a great width too it. Perfect for a large salad with prawns. The 2nd I bought with a glass bowl. I wasn't keen on the white. You can still purchase both on line at Wheel&Barrow.
A Pitcher....Yes Please
I'm certainly no entertainer. The thought of organising a dinner or anything of the sort sends shivers down my spine. Perhaps it is because I can't cook (or choose not too!). However, I would love to have all the tools, just incase one day I get struck by lightening and decide to host an evening. perhaps I should start low key with an afternoon of cocktails or something of the sort. Firstly however, I need to get equipped. Time to go shopping!

Brazilian Rosewood Bedside Tables
One piece for the house I'm not compromising on is some brazilian rosewood bedside tables. I can find plenty overseas, yet not so many in Australia. Perhaps it is time to import a container load.

Apparently we have to have the Jasper...But I choose everything else
I've just been told by the partner that he is having his King furniture Jasper lounge. I can choose the colour, the timber etc. And...I also get to choose everything else. And everything else I will.
So let's get to designing my home furnishings:
1. Jasper Lounge - in a dark fabric, however a lighter timber than the below. Tango fig or tango olive fabric.

John Lautner's Tyler Residence in Studio City
Another of John Lautner's house. The Tyler House in Studio City.
A 1950s 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. Studio City is a neighbourhood in Los Angeles. It is quite an affluent residential neighbourhood in the San Fernardo Valley. There are a large majority of residents who work in film, TV, and the music industry. Party central.

The movie The Human Contract was filmed using the house. Yet there was also another film, a softcore film which also used the house, without permission though. Rebellious!
Tom Ford's A Single Man......That house, That furniture. That MAN!
The modernist home from Tom Ford's movie A Single Man with Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, is in Los Angeles and is actually for sale. $1,395,000 to be exact. And honestly, I was pleasently surprised by the price tag. It should be like a good piece of furniture...and go up in value due to it's history. Can you imagine living in this home. I'd have to learn to do my hair like Julianne Moore and learn to drink scotch or whisky.
The home was designed by architect John Edward Lautner, and is in the base of the Verdugo Mountains.
John Lautner was an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. Which is no surprise really!

Clearly very Art Deco, but very, very cool. Add a glass of whisky in one's hand.
The above isn't Mid Century, but more so 2001. However, I'm still a big fan. If the legs were curved walnut timber, then it would fit right in. I have 10 Magis Chair One chairs in white, so I am going to have to mix some modern with some Mid Century Modern.
